How-to set a passcode on my Connected watch and what can I do if I forgot it?
Product(s): TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E1, E2, E3, E4, E5
Phone OS: Wear OS by Google
This article explains how the passcode lock works on TAG Heuer Connected smartwatches (Calibre E1 through E5), detailing the reasons for differences between models and the procedures for managing your passcode. This feature is inherent to Wear OS by Google and is generally offered during the setup of Google Pay for watches that support it.
1- Passcode Lock on Calibre E1/E2/E3/E4
To ensure enhanced security when Google Pay is activated on your TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E1, E2, E3, or E4 watch, setting a passcode is mandatory. This security measure is especially important when the watch is removed and then put back on the wrist. It is prompted during the Google Pay installation process on compatible models. This code must be entered to unlock the connected watch when you turn it on or wake it.
For users who do not use Google Pay, screen locking is optional. If you wish to activate a passcode or pattern lock for added peace of mind, you will find the detailed steps in the "3- How to Manage Your Passcode" section of this article".
2- Lock Management on Calibre E5
Given that the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 does not include an integrated payment function, and because our watches do not contain exploitable personal data beyond potentially synchronized contacts, the decision was made not to include a passcode lock option for this model. This approach streamlines the user experience while maintaining appropriate privacy standards.
3- How to Manage Your Passcode
Here are the steps to set, disable, or address a forgotten passcode on your TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E1, E2, E3, or E4 watch:
- Set a passcode: On the watch > open the Menu > Settings > Security > Screen lock and choose between Pattern or PIN.
- Turn off the passcode: On the watch > open the Menu > Settings > Security > Screen lock > enter the current passcode and select "None."
- Forgotten password: If you repeatedly enter an incorrect password, the watch will eventually prompt you to perform a factory reset. This is the only available option to regain access to the watch in such a scenario, as we cannot bypass the security mechanism remotely. If you encounter this situation, please contact our Customer Care for assistance.
