What is a Double Green ?
The double greens system is mainly seen in Asian countries, in particular Japan, where it appeared, and Korea.
It is different from the dual greens course feature, where a large green is used for two different holes with distinct flagsticks.
A dual/shared green A double greens
The double greens, or two-green system, originated from the need and desire to keep greens playable across different seasons. Because Japan and Korea have extreme climate with hot and humid summers while winters are cold and dry, they chose to use a different grass type on each green to allow for different game options based on the weather.
Summer greens would typically feature bermuda or zoysia, while winter greens would favour bent grass. Double green can also be found in other countries but usually only for one or few particular holes of a golf course.
How does it work on the mobile app ?
When starting a new round, and for each hole with a double green, the app will automatically show a close view of the two greens and display a selection screen where it’s possible to choose between the left green and the right green by selecting the corresponding arrow. In case the wrong green was selected, at any moment of the game, it’s possible to open again the selection screen by choosing the directional signboard icon on the left side of the hole view.
How does it work on the watch ?
When starting a new round, and for each hole with a double green, the app will automatically display a selection screen where it’s possible to choose between the left green and the right green by selecting the corresponding arrow. In case the wrong green was selected, at any moment of the game, it’s possible to open again the selection screen by choosing the directional signboard icon on the right side of the hole view.
What if the course does not have the double green enabled ?
If the app does not display the double greens feature for a course, it might be a mapping issue, the second green being not drawn or drawn as a green fringe. In that case, please contact the Customer Care through the TAG Heuer Golf app settings > Contact Support, or from the online contact form, so we can update the course map.
For technical reasons, the Double Green feature is only available on the TAG Heuer Connected Watch Calibre E4 under Wear OS 3, and on TAG Heuer Golf mobile app.
